The value of MTO shoes is not only in the purchase price, but in how well they serve over the years. Good leather ages beautifully when cared for. Neglected leather dries, loses shape and wears faster.
Give shoes rest days
Leather shoes need time to dry after use. The same pair should not be worn every day if long life is the goal. A rest day helps the leather recover and reduces moisture build-up.

Shoe trees preserve shape
Wooden shoe trees help preserve the shoe shape and absorb moisture. They should be placed in the shoes after wear, while the leather is still slightly warm and shaped by the foot.
Cleaning and cream are basic maintenance
Smooth leather should be brushed and wiped clean before adding cream. Leather cream restores nourishment and helps preserve flexibility. Polishing gives a finished look, but it does not replace nourishing the leather.
Suede needs its own care
Suede should be protected from moisture and brushed with a suede brush. Regular leather cream is not suitable for suede. If the shoe gets wet, it should dry slowly at room temperature, not near a radiator or hot air.
