How to care for a suit so it lasts longer

A good suit does not stay good by accident. Proper care extends its life, preserves shape and reduces unnecessary cleaning.

Let the suit rest

Avoid wearing the same suit for several days in a row if possible. Wool recovers after wear when the suit rests on a breathable hanger.

Brush before cleaning

A suit brush removes dust and surface dirt. Often light brushing and airing are better than dry cleaning.

Dry clean only when needed

Excessive dry cleaning wears the fabric. Take the suit to the cleaner if it has a stain, odour does not air out or the fabric is clearly dirty.

Use the right hanger

A wide wooden hanger supports the shoulder better than a thin metal hanger. Trousers should be hung so the crease is preserved.

When travelling, roll carefully or use a garment bag

When travelling, pack the suit loosely or carry it in a garment bag. On arrival, hang it immediately and let it recover before use.

  • Air after use.
  • Brush regularly.
  • Avoid unnecessary dry cleaning.
  • Store on a wide hanger.
  • Repair small damage in time.
