MTO or made-to-order: why production by order makes sense

MTO stands for made-to-order. The idea is simple: the product is not produced for stock in every possible combination, but made according to the customer’s choices and needs.

Fewer compromises

With ready-to-wear, the customer chooses from what is in stock. In made-to-order, the starting point is different: first the purpose, colour, material and details are considered, then the solution is built around them. This does not remove all limits, but it reduces unnecessary compromises.

A better relationship between stock and use

When a garment or accessory is made for a real need, the goal is a product that will actually be used. This makes sense for both the client and the company: fewer wrong purchases, less unnecessary stock and more decisions based on real use.

MTO does not mean unlimited freedom

Made-to-order always has technical limits: material availability, model construction, schedule and production method. A good service explains these limits clearly so the client receives a realistic and durable result.
